It's a new year, and all things are fresh and exciting, or some other hackneyed cliché of that general sort. In keeping with the spirit of the season, here are some things we're doing on the site:
We've done some fiddling with our blogroll, towards the lower end of your screen. Inter alia, we've added some Progressive think tanks, Progressive organizations, and Progressive blogs, as well as some of their counterparts on the other side of the spectrum, and some important blogs we've managed to overlook on the media side.
Yes, the Daily Gotham home page is cluttered, in part because we're reliant on advertising to pay the bills. So we're taking a look at some of the blocks floating around on the sides, to see what's really required for your user experience, and what's not. If you have suggestions, by all means, leave a comment.
As noted before, there's a re-design in the works. This site runs off Drupal, which, honestly, is the crappiest software imaginable from a number of perspectives; it renders abysmally across browsers and screen sizes, fonts look weird, and it takes ages to load. Oh well and waddaya gonna do; we'll try to optimize your experience as best we can. And before I get hit over the head, I should note that Liza disagrees with me on Drupal's qualities.
I'm wondering: there are a dozen or so options at the foot of every post, allowing you to do all sorts of things. Are those necessary? Any input would be most welcome.
And so it goes. Back to the coding.
