Just a reminder to all: January seems to be a KEY month for protecting our voting rights in New York State. PLEASE take action now. This is from the
DFNYC website:
CONTACT COUNTY PARTY CHAIRS ABOUT VOTING MACHINES
- Call the 2 chairs in your borough, see below for numbers -
Tuesday Nov. 8 may have been the last election in which we voted on our lever machines, and what comes next is fraught with danger. The Democratic and Republican County Chairs - through their election commissioners in each of New York’s 5 boroughs - will decide whether we use familiar paper ballots with reliable precinct based optical scanners to record and count our votes, or whether we turn the machinery of vote counting and recording over to the secret software of corporate America and its DRE (direct recording electronic) or electronic voting machines.
Please call your county’s Democratic and Republican County Chairs to tell them that we want to use the PB/OS system - trustworthy paper ballots with the technologically mature optical scanners allowed by the State Legislature; and not the unproven, untrustworthy, unreliable and expensive DRE "electronic touch screen" machines that are opposed by most voters but being pushed by corporate lobbyists to maximize their profits at the public’s expense.
If you are calling the Democratic Chair in Manhattan or Staten Island, please thank them for supporting paper ballots and optical scanners.
