Every week we get requests from 'the new blogger on the block' to include them on our blogroll. The blogroll is tarting to get too long and unruly to the point that I am thinking of making some big changes on that department. But before I hear any rending of shirts and gnashing of teeth, I would like to propose a different sort of blogrolling.
In the next coming weeks, I will be experimenting with the new syndication feature I have here at The Daily Gotham.
Right now we have a small newswire service running in the back end. We use it to aggregate all the blogs from the culturekitchen Media network [1] and some events blogs. What I will be experimenting with is more than a newswire.
In my effort to have more local content broadcasted over the nets, I will start promoting to the front page posts found on other people's blogs and syndicated through their feeds. These posts will be branded with the blogs logo and have links back to the original sites and blog entry.
What makes this different from a regular newswire is that not all the posts on another blog's feeds will be promoted automatically. All posts will be queued and only by my editorial decree will a syndicated post make it to the front page. That's very different fromwhat er have here now --if you have been chosen tn as a regular contributor, your posts go automatically to the front page and no matter what.
I have sent out requests today for this experimental participation but, if you would like to have your blog considered for syndication through our site, please email me at editors@dailygotham.com [2] or give us a holler through the comments section.
The one snag? No newspapers or big media blogs. This is only for independent bloggers and citizen journalists. And yes, I am considering not just New York City bloggers but bloggers from all over the state.
