Your liberal media...

The above is the cover of the current issue of The Economist, in which the magazine endorses a Democratic takeover of Congress.

Friday evening mirth: National Review rocks out

Well, it's Friday evening, time to go into the weekend, and therefore an occasion for some lighter stuff. And here ya go: the hardrocking folks at the National Review magazine have compiled a list of the top 50 conservative rock songs.

No, I am not making that up just to make them look ridiculous. Here's the link.

What makes a great conservative rock song? The lyrics must convey a conservative idea or sentiment, such as skepticism of government or support for traditional values. And, to be sure, it must be a great rock song. We’re biased in favor of songs that are already popular, but have tossed in a few little-known gems. In several cases, the musicians are outspoken liberals.

Yeah, that could be a problem. Especially when the Rolling Stones with "Sympathy for the Devil" are number three on the list, cough. When the whole point of rock music is to challenge authority, yeah, it's difficult to imagine a conservative version. People don't normally mosh for the flat tax. Oddly enough, Eminem didn't make the list, either; noted right-wingers The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, U2, John Cougar Mellencamp, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Clash, David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Blink 182 did. I kid you not.

That's tantamount to sacrilege in my book. We need to fight back.

Nominations for theme songs that fit specific or generic conservatives or republicans in the comments section, please.
