More Endorsements for Norman Siegel

Here's an update on Norman Siegel's run for Public Advocate. I last saw Norm at Rock Hackshaw's recent fundraiser/party, where Rock re-iterated his strong endorsement of Norman Siegel for Public Advocate. I had heard of some other endorsements at that time but waited until the IND fiasco played out before writing about it.

Of course Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats (covering, of course, Central Brooklyn) and Democracy for NYC (a citywide offshoot of of the Howard Dean campaign) had already endorsed Norman Siegel, continuing a long partnership between Norm and the most progressive and reform minded Democrats in the city.

More recently Norman Siegel has been endorsed by another Brooklyn club, Brooklyn Democrats for Change (covering Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights, Fort Hamilton, Bath Beach and Gravesend) and three Manhattan clubs: Three Parks Independent Democrats (Upper West Side), Broadway Democrats (Morningside Heights and parts of Manhattan Valley, southwest Harlem, and Manhattanville), and the Village Independent Democrats (covering, well, the Village).

From Norm Siegel's website:

We are proud to announce that Norman has received endorsements from Three Parks Independent Democrats, Broadway Democrats and Village Independent Democrats!

Three Parks Independent Democrats decisively endorsed Norman with over two thirds of the vote on Wednesday, May 13th. For over 30 years Three Parks has been an active and vigorous participant in Upper West Side politics dedicated to preserving and strengthening a progressive Democratic agenda.

Daniele Gerard, president of the club, said: "Three Parks is delighted to support a true advocate for civil rights to be New York City's next Public Advocate".

Broadway Democrats, the official Democratic organization for Morningside Heights and parts of Manhattan Valley, southwest Harlem, and Manhattanville, also endorsed Norman. They too are committed to protecting and promoting a progressive Democratic agenda.

Village Independent Democrats continued the support of Norman. "For 52 years the Village Independent Democrats has stood in the vanguard of progressive political activism in NYC, we are proud to Endorse Norman Siegel for NYC Public Advocate," said club president William Stricklin.

Thanks to all three clubs and their pledge to campaign and carry petitions for Norman!

I know from past experience that all these clubs are generally particularly active and enthusiastic. They will be part of a good ground game for Norm.

To learn more about Norm Siegel's 40 years of dedication to civil rights and public advocacy, please read his bio on his website. It is quite an impressive background.
