Brad Lander Joins Rudy Giuliani and Dov Hikind in Honoring Mike Bloomberg and Carl Kruger [UPDATED]
[UPDATE AT BOTTOM WITH FURTHER INFO ON THE EVENT] Someone sent me a link to the latest event Brad Lander went to with his friend, infamous anti-gay politician Dov Hikind. Seems Lander joined an event in Boro Park where the likes of Rudy Guiliani were honoring Mike Bloomberg and Carl Kruger. So basically, Lander continues to rub shoulders with Republicans and anti-gay politicians. From Jewish Breaking News:
Boro Park Jewish Community Council, Community Leaders, Rudy Giuliani Honor Mike Bloomberg
By SFToday was the annual BPJCC Legislative Breakfast in Khal Chasidim hall
The honors went to Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Carl Cruger, State Senator Kevin Parker, Boro President Marty Markowitz, (both not attended)Among the attendees was Rudy Giuliani, Mike Bloomberg, Anthony Wiener, Carl Cruger, Martin Golden, Jerry Nadler, councilwoman Savino, Simcha Felder, David Weprin, Dov Hikind, Brad Lander...
And here's one of their pictures (more on their site):

Lander's right there next to Bush-pal Rudy Giuliani.
Now, I like people like Jerry Nadler and Diane Savino. But why is it that ANY TIME you read about this kind of thing Brad Lander seems to be there? You'd think after his campaign was caught red handed paying for an anti-gay ad in a Boro Park newspaper, Lander just might want to keep away from gatherings like this. Is Lander trying to convince us he is a pro-Bloomberg, anti-gay DINO? I don't think so, but it sure seems like it sometimes.
Meanwhile, I suspect Lander's Green Party opponent, David Pechefsky, wouldn't be rubbing shoulders with Dov Hikind and Rudy Giuliani and honoring Mike Bloomberg and Carl Kruger.
UPDATE: I also got pictures of a print newspaper from Boro Park, Hamodia, that also covered this event. It had a different take on the event that makes it both better and worse. First off, the Hamodia coverage from today indicated that the event was honoring Holocaust victims. Which of course puts a very different spin on the event. However, the coverage also indicates that this event was heavily politicized into a pro-Bloomberg event. This event, attended by Lander, seems to have involved considerable mutual joking and political endorsement among Giuliani, Bloomberg and Simcha Felder. Wonder how Lander felt amid this assembly of conservative back-slapping, supposedly honoring Holocaust victims. A letter to the editor in Hamodia from someone at the event reports overhearing both anti-Bloomberg statements by many Boro Park residents dissatisfied with Bloomberg AND pro-Bloomberg people making racist statements about Thompson. THe observer reports feeling the event set up such racist themes in the anti-crime notes brought up (echoes of Willy Horton ads?). The email that sent me these articles also notes that Hamodia is supposedly being strong-armed by the Bloomberg Administration because it has refused to kowtow to Tsar Bloomberg. Wonder how Lander feels about these numerous sub-themes to this event?
