Everyone wants to know how to evaluate, anticipate and predict where Obama wants to go as America’s President, and this applies also to other candidates. The best way is to look at what he says. He told us what he believed. He said that the interests of the community are more important than are the interests of the individual. However, America was founded on individual freedom, which means the interests of the individual are more important than the community or the society. America grew economically because of individual freedom and the resulting free market. No other nation experienced America’s level of prosperity. The rest of the world was founded for thousands of years on the community interests being superior to individual interests, because a few elite ruled the many and could never take a chance on individuals having their own way, bordered only by laws to prevent injustice. Obama made his choice to support the Old World position and is moving America, through enormous expansion of government and debt, in that direction. It is clear by his statement, by those with whom he associated as described on claysamerica.com. You need not be confused, as Obama made it clear how to predict his moves.

I saw this on another blog and think it's a complete joke (and a bad one at that). New Yorkers are NOT going to vote for a DINO and especially one that's from Tennessee. Ford stands absolutely no chance in a primary, let alone the General Election. Tell him to run for an office in Tennessee. Oh, and he'd better not say that Hillary and RFK weren't from NY when they ran because at least they were REAL DEMS and not DINOS.

Please remember that Harold Ford Jr. was representing a moderate to conservative district in Tennessee and was representing his constituents. Sometimes, out in the heartland especially, you have to vote like your voters want you to vote. Despite what Liza Sabater thinks, there is not a political gospel everyone must follow where it is blasphemy to deviate from it. In short, Ms. Sabater should not assume that the Harold Ford who represented that district in Tennessee would vote the same way as the one who would represent New York. Or does she forget that Al Gore once was a moderate to conservative Tennessee congressman when he represented what I believe was the same district?

Harold Ford Jr. was a congressman representing a moderate to conservative district in Tennessee and he voted the way his constituents wanted. Representing your constituents is a political tradition. If Liza Sabater insists on a political gospel that is set in stone and whereby deviating from it is blasphemy, then few politicians will be good enough for her. If Harold Ford Jr. runs for the Senate we will see where he really stands and New York voters will accept him or reject him. There is no reason for Ms. Sabater or anyone else to reject him out of hand based on how he voted representing that district in the south.

The fact is that the Democrats are in danger of losing one of New York's senate seats. Kirsten Gillibrand is a young, weak candidate who has never been tested statewide. Chuck Schumer has all but scared every big name democrat out of running against her, in the name of supporting governor Paterson. But Rudy Guiliani is going to run for the GOP and he will beat Gillibrand. Count on it. She isn't in his league in terms of political skill. If Schumer has scared off all the in-state democrats from running than lets look for where the quality candidates are. Al Gore LOVES Harold Ford Jr. I saw them hugging at Gore's appearance at Barnes and Noble Union Square a couple of years ago.
