The blog's development and design rant-a-thon
A fierce hello to all the dailygothamers that have made it this far.
I need your help. I need to make a list of to-do's for fixing, improving or adding features to this site.
So please take a moment to rant away; although praises and sycophantic fawning are most welcomed.
What do you absolutely love about the site?
I was going to say the same thing
Anyway, thanks dirtgirl for tipping me off as to how to fix it...
Otherwise, the site looks great!
Same thing, but with Netscape 7
And OS9.2
But yeah, chameleon seems to work fine.
Yup! The problem #1 we seem to be having with the design
It's only happening in IE, the browser web designers love to hate. I will be working on that tonight.
Thanks!

security settings?
I just tried to access the comments from yesterday's inaugural post, and I'm getting an "Access Denied" page. Perhaps the Archive settings need to be updated?
hmmmm.
and you were logged in?

the problem seems to be fixed
I had no probs accessing old comments this time around, so whatever y'all did worked.

couple more items
I set up a blog post. The interface is a bit clunky. First there's a two step process to create a post (you have to say "write it up and publish" then select "personal blog entry), but that's ok. More strange is the list of permissions you can set as to who can view and edit your post. Maybe there's a way for us ordinary users to not see that since I'd imagine you wouldn't want us making private postings.
It also says "You may post PHP code". maybe that makes sense to someone, but not to me. Maybe just worth adding a note that HTML code is also allowed, because I wasn't really sure until previewing. and if you just put a blank line between paragraphs, when you preview the text, they aren't there. so i'm adding them manually with HTML but I doubt most people know how.
Finally, the way the post is displayed, the text that reads "Trackback URL for the post" is way too big and should have a blank line before it. At least the way it displays in the 'chameleon' desing.
Hope you don't mind this feedback. not at all trying to be critical, just helpful.
this is the kind of stuff i need to hear.
Thanks!

Hm, yeah
I noticed the "access denied" thing on old comments as well.
Also, oddly, posting a comment seems to log me out.
what browser are you using?
i also need to know what operating system you're using as well.
cheers!

IE 6 as well
Looks like you fixed the text overlap issue, though.
I'm getting the same logout problem
It says that I'm logged in when I look at the "Users Online" box, but I cannot post a comment or access any of my personal settings. It dumps me to the general homepage...
I am currently using OS9.2 and Netscape 7.
Tonight, I'll try all of this on Fedora Core 3 (that's a distro of Linux) running Firefox and Mozilla...
Oh yes, and I don't know if this is a software issue - but this having to add HTML code to get a hard break is a total pain in the ass. Is there any way to fix that?
Looks good on Firefox 1.0.3
Looks good with Firefox. No problems with text-box overrun. We'll see if this logs me out after I post it... I'm using the "php" (more troublesome) interface - I'll reset that and try chameleon...

problems creating account
I just setup my account, and found problems. Only 3 fields are indicated as required, but it wouldn't let me with just those. And the error came back only as "required field" at the top, but didn't indicate WHICH fields were also required. I finally just put something in every field to get it to work.
Titles Too Large
Is there a reason the titles are so big in relation to the body copy. I just came off vacation and dropped by the site. I like the rest of the design, but the titles seem rediculously large, and I have a laptop with very high resolution, I cant imagine how big the titles are for someone with a 1024x768 screen!

possible bug
pardon if this is a double post, i can't find the one i already entered.
there's something funky on the homepage when you log in under the default settings. Before I registered and chose a different site template, the text of the homepage was reaching all the way to the right side of the page, where it was obscured by the paypal and login boxes among other things. I'm on XP and Internet Explorer 6.0.
the 'chameleon' template works fine.
