"Daily Show" co-creator LIZZ WINSTEAD’s newest brainchild, Shoot The Messenger, is a satirical wrap-up of the week's news. A LIVE SKETCH COMEDY SHOW incorporating multi-media elements, Shoot The Messenger brings us the world as seen through the filters of the fictional producers and on-air talent at "Wake Up World," the worst morning news show in America. Shoot The Messenger is an indictment -- both hilarious and scathing -- not only of the newsmakers, but of the news media that mold them.
But that's just half of it. Each week in the show’s second act, SHOOT THE MESSENGER creator and co-star Lizz Winstead then interviews a real-life media figure who digs deep and gets it right, to give us the lowdown on the big stories that were buried (or ignored) by our pals over at the corporate media mill. Past guests have included Rachel Maddow, Mark Crispin Miller, Roseanne, Susie Essman, Mo Rocca, Ed Begley Jr., Marie Wilson, Ted Rall, Paul Rieckhoff, Michelangelo Signorile, Chuck D, David Rees, Rachel Sklar, Philip Dray, John Bowe, Todd Hanson, and more.
The members of the Shoot the Messenger ensemble come from The Daily Show, Air America Radio, National Lampoon, Upright Citizen Brigade, Second City, Huffington Post, and represent some of the best political comics, writers, actors, filmmakers, and producers working today. Each week this extraordinary team scours the media and collectively creates a fresh new approach to political and social satire.
