MoveOn.org played a huge role in the 2006 victories for Democrats and progressives. With very effective targeted ads and a massive phone bank campaign, it is likely that MoveOn.org was one of the most effective organizations this year.

But they aren't relaxing yet. They realize that winning the election was just the beginning! They are already gearing up for the fight to keep the new Congress focused on key issues. To kick it off, there is an organizing party in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

Come and be part of the campaign to keep our new Congress focused on solutions to the big issues -- health care, Iraq, energy, restoring constitutional freedoms. This is also a great chance to celebrate the changes in Washington with your Brooklyn neighbors!

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11231

Host: Wendy Williams

Status: Public, open for RSVP, (Max 50)

I won't be able to make it (my department's Holiday party is that evening!), but I hope it is a good start to the new legislative year.
