New York City Richardson For President MeetUp
We’re looking forward to seeing you at 7:30 on Tuesday, August 21st, at The Underground, 613 Second Avenue (just south of 34th, west side of the street).
Good beer, good wine, good company, good work for Richardson. We’ll hear about the campaign and about Richardson’s positions on some key issues, and we’ll get started on the work of campaigning. We want our candidate to make a good showing in New York. (HC does not have it all wrapped up.) We’ll try to wind up before 10, but allow a little extra time for detailed planning and assignments.
If you’ve already RSVP’d on the website, great. If not, here’s the link:

Well...
I think it is HIGHLY dangerous to frame the debate that if homosexuality is a choice then gays don't deserve equal protection under the law. To what degree homosexuality is genetic remains unclear. There is evidence for a genetic link but it isn't definitive yet and besides, genetic links to behavior are never 100%.
But to me that is irrelavent. Even if was 100% a choice, does that mean legal equality is wrong? Of course not! Choice or genetic, legal equality is STILL necessary.
What is Richardson's record on supporting legal equality? THAT is far more important than whether he thinks homosexuality is a choice or not. And I am not sure where he stands.
And for the record, I remember when the genetic evidence first came out. It was QUITE controversial in the gay community as to whether they liked the idea that being gay WASN'T a choice.

What about Richardson's views on homosexuality
Richardson said in the Thursday debate that he thinks homosexuality is a "choice". He later waffled and tried to backtrack in a post debate interview but the damage was done. I have read blogs by gay bloggers who are incensed at him now. Clearly another sign that Richardson is not liberal enough for many primary voters.
