Darfur Vigils at the US Mission to the UN

27 Mar 2006 - 8:00pm

Start:
Tue, 03/28/2006 - 1:00am

When: 12-2 (come when you can and stay as long as you like)

Where: US Mission to the United Nations, 140 E. 45th St. (btwn. 3rd & Lexington)

The recent statements by the Bush Administration in support of a UN peacekeeping force, and possibly sending in NATO as an interim measure, have only come about because of the pressure of citizens all across this country.

Unfortunately, the security situation in Darfur continues to deteriorate and a war with neighboring Chad is looming. In the UN, there are new obstacles to sending in a UN peacekeeping force. It is therefore imperative that we continue to pressure our government to use every legitimate tool at its disposal to bring about the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force.
