The midterm elections are approaching fast and you have the opportunity to get more involved in making sure that progressives turnout and vote this November. People For the American Way needs your help in contacting our members to make sure our progressive voices are heard at the ballot box! Over the past six years, we have seen an abuse of presidential powers undermining our country’s system of checks and balances, an erosion of fundamental civil liberties, irresponsible tax and spending policies and a disastrous foreign policy. It is time for a change – let’s make this A November to Remember! People For the American Way has organized a series of phone banking nights to make focused calls to our members in key districts where important ballot measures and candidate races are taking place and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our first phone bank will be on Wednesday, October 4 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the PFAW Northeast Regional Office at 149 5th Avenue, 7th Floor, in New York City. Phone banking will continue every Monday – Thursday until the election on November 7. Light snacks and refreshments will be served and volunteers will be briefed with inside information about the midterm election. Take action with Planned Parenthood to protect the future of reproductive rights this election season. Planned Parenthood has targeted races at the local, state and federal level where reproductive rights are at stake and we're going to win by talking with thousands of pro-choice voters in those districts between now and November 7! Join other New York activists at Planned Parenthood phonebank nights where we will call pro-choice voters in key districts around the country about the upcoming election. Former IND president and current Community Board 6 member Devin Cohen sends out this message to all Brooklyn activists: A joint Democratic/WFP phonebanking effort is scheduled for Wed. Oct. 25th, 6-8 PM at 2-4 Nevins St. (the WFP offices). Anyone who wants to participate can email me and I will pass along the info: mole333_at_gmail_dot_com According to the WFP blog, these efforts focus on the NY-24, NY-29 and CT-7 races, which are among the three hottest races in the country. Giving a couple of hours to this effort will do wonders! WFP also has a phone-from-home effort.
