Attending ACLU's "John Doe" Hearing
The ACLU asks that we join them tomorrow at the Court of Appeals in downtown Manhattan, where the ACLU will make its arguments in two cases that challenge the National Security Letter (NSL) provision of the Patriot Act, including their "John Doe" Patriot Act case.
At this hearing, the ACLU will be challenging the FBI's use of the Patriot Act to demand private records and personal information - including library records -- without the approval of a judge. Your past action has made a difference, and now your presence at the courthouse can, too.
They need a packed courtroom for this historic and nationally prominent case can help show the government -- and the media -- that Patriot Act provisions like the NSL authority are against the Constitution and must not be allowed.
The more we make our voices heard, the greater the chance that John Doe can get his own story heard, now, as Congress considers critical changes to the Patriot Act.
Please come to the courthouse tomorrow:
When: Tomorrow, Wednesday November 2 at 10 a.m.
Where: 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, 40 Foley Square, Room 1705, New York, NY 10007
