NYC Council Speaker Debate

On January 4, the 51 members of the New York City Council will meet to
select the next Speaker. The debate for this position usually occurs
far from the public eye. This event adds a new and valuable dimension
to the selection process by providing an open forum where candidates
for the office of City Council Speaker can express their views on a
wide range of topics which affect all New Yorkers, including housing,
