LEARN TO LOBBY FOR SECURE VOTING

7 Jul 2005 - 5:00pm

Democracy For New York City is hosting a special training headed by Teresa Hommel, computer expert and voting activist. It will fill in the gaps on what you know about Paper Ballot/Optical Scan vs DRE voting systems and =will also give you some lobbying smarts, so we can take this issue to the NY City Council members and make sure all five boroughs opt for Paper BBallot/Optical Scanner systems. Since NYC makes up about 38% of NY State voters, it’s a good way for securing the vote and influencing machine voting choice statewide.

Bring: your Council Member's name. You can find out who yours is by going to www.nypirg.org.

If you are interested in this critical issue, please contact: Stephanie Low (212 534 4103) stephlow@mindspring.com to reserve a space. 6-9 pm. Community Church of New York, 28 East 35 St. (between Park and Madison). Ring the bell for the Front Lounge. $10 a person, to cover costs.
