Start:
Mon, 12/12/2005 - 7:30pm

Where:The Tank - 217 East 42nd Street (b/w 2nd & 3rd Avenues). Please note the new location for The Tank.

This meeting is devoted to the upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Samuel Alito and we have arranged for one of the city's brightest civil rights attorneys, Christopher Edelson, and for Tony Simone, Policy and Field Director,People for the American Way New York, to come and speak about the impact a Justice Alito will have on your life and the things you can do about it.

Christopher will address issues of employment discrimination, police conduct (including search and seizure), federalism, the power of the executive branch and the separation of church and state. Afterwards, Tony will outline many of the opportunities that PFAW and the coalition of grassroots and progressive organizations, including NDM, have come up with to engage in this epic and winnable battle.

For those of you unfamiliar with Christopher Edelson, he began his career with the firm of Akin, Gump, Straus, Hauer & Feld in Washington, D.C. and worked with People for the American Way in representing clients in both federal and state courts in employment discrimination matters. In addition, Chris has successfully resolved many labor and employment matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
