I tried making it clear that NKD was not specifically an Obama or Squadron organization so much as inspired by and overlapping with their supporters. If I didn't make that sufficiently clear, thanks for clarifying.

I stand corrected on the 5 new members. I was distracted as it happened and didn't catch who proposed it but noticed some machine folks looking distinctly displeased. Based on that alone and the fact that it happened in the midst of the insurrection, I assumed it was insurgency based. I also did not notice it being read from th script. One thing that I did wonder about was why Vito Lopez's 700 supposed proxies (which we are never allowed to see and count) didn't come into play to crush it like a bug. Your interpretation is more in line with the lack of proxy power application and I think you caught a more accurate view of what happened. I will put a note in the main text referring to your observations.

As to conflicting slates. I knew the 52nd had some overlap between NKD and people who got on by petition. Was the other conflicting slate, which went to a farce vote and was crushed by the machine, also NKD? That was unclear to me.

All this points to a fundamental issue: all aspects of the reform/insurgency movements are uncoordinated, as is typical of the left. Charles Barron, myself and the Squadron supporters all come from different angles and may not agree on many things. Question is, can we come together to bump Vito Lopez? And the second question is what can/will we replace Vito's machine with?
