We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering.
You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God can give us, to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.
You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.
Yes, a little overboard...
You know what? Bouldin's right. You have gone a little overboard. My position on this race is I don't feel a lot of enthusiasm for Powell, but I'm definitely not a fan of Towns. Sure, Towns may support a lot of the things I support, and sure, a lot of good organizations have endorsed him (well, he IS the incumbent).
Towns was my Congressman until reapportionment moved the district lines during the last census. But he lost my support back in 1997 when he crossed over party lines and endorsed Rudy Giuliani for reelection. This was completely uncalled for, unconscionable, and despicable. To cross party lines and come out for such a scumbag as Giuliani was a deal-breaker for me. I realize that Ruth Messinger was not the best Democratic nominee and had no chance of winning, so if Towns had chosen to not campaign for her, fine by me. But to endorse Giuliani? NO. No good Democrat should have ever gone there.
