These trips are a bigger issue
To my way of thinking, Fossella's DUI and adultery are less of an issue than the fact that he was touring Europe with his girlfriend *at taxpayer expense* He went on taxpayer-paid Congressional "fact finding missions" with then speaker Dennis Hastert and other Congressman. But unlike the other guys, he had his girlfriend in the delegation. So while work was actually being done, "fact finding" ya know-- Vito and Laura Fay were AWOL taking advantage of the finest hotels and bars in each town. The government also reimbursed Fossella for a third trip, this time to France, which was also apparently just a vacation.
Fossella should reimburse the government for the costs of these european vacations or be brought up on charges before the House Ethics Committee. Free multiple ten day vacations for you and your girlfriend touring Europe's finest cities are not a perk of a Congressman's job.
