presidential primary
Evening in Brooklyn on Super Tuesday
So far an archane West Virginia Republican convention has annointed Huckabee thanks to a deal made, so I hear, between Huck and Ron "Crazy Man" Paul such that Huck tosses three delegates to Paul in the end while Paul's people in West Virginia throw their support to Huck. This keeps Huck in the running, I suppose. Another rumor was that McCain's people went for Huck to avoid WV from going Romney. If these behind the scenes secret handshake deals hadn't been made, Romney probably would have won WV.
Georgia has, as expected, been called for Obama. So the first state to be called tonight for a Dem is for Obama, for what it's worth. On the Repub side, it seems to be a THREE way race in Georgia.
Here in Brooklyn, things seem quieter at the polls compared with this morning when I voted in my neck of Brooklyn. It seems like many who have voted already have. I still see far more Obama stickers, signs and such around the neighborhood, including a fellow parent picking up his kid at my son's day care. Obama signs seem omnipresent in Park Slope.

Good Turnout in Brooklyn: Super Tuesday
Voted on my way to work today. Usually when I vote before work I am among the first dozen or so in my election district. Today I was number 31. The polls were not packed the way they were in November 2004 when they were overwhelmed, but they definitely already have lines, something I have never seen in a primary election. Looks like voter turnout will be quite high.
