Presidential Debate
Obama and McCain debate on Staten Island
The October 15 debate between Obama and McCain wasn't the final 2008 election cycle presidential debate.
Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler (NY 8 Congressional District Manhattan/Brooklyn) and former Pataki aid and Republican Jewish Coalition Executive Director Greg Menken will sub for the actual presidential candidates in a 2 PM Sunday October 19 debate at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun (CBJ), 275 Martling Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314. CBJ’s Men’s Club is sponsoring the event.
Nadler and Menken have previously debated each other as presidential candidate surrogates.
I will co-moderate the event with CBJ mens club pres Ronnie Ben-Aron.

Debate notes
So the Dems had yet another debate last night, one in an ongoing series. If you missed it, never mind; there will be many, many more. My personal highlight came courtesy of our junior Senator, displaying once again that famous critical distance from the Bush administration.
Via The New York Times:
MR. BLITZER: Senator Clinton, do you agree with Senator Edwards that this war on terror is nothing more than a bumper sticker, at least the way it's been described?
SEN. CLINTON: No, I do not. I am a senator from New York. I have lived with the aftermath of 9/11.
And I have seen firsthand the terrible damage that can be inflicted on our country by a small band of terrorists who are intent upon foisting their way of life and using suicide bombers and suicidal people to carry out their agenda. And I believe we are safer than we were. We are not yet safe enough, and I have proposed over the last year a number of policies that I think we should be following.
