Looking Back at Wal-Mart, Looking Forward to Something Else
A lot of discussion has taken place on liberal blogs following the brutal death of Djimytai Damour at a New York store on Black Friday.
At MyDD, folks asked what the event meant about our culture, or pondered what Wal-Mart might have done to prevent the man's death, while over at Daily Kos there was a spirited debate over whether Wal-Mart was even responsible.
I do some work with Wake-Up Wal-Mart-- what they did was raise money to relieve Damour's family. We've been following this story pretty closely. Now it's taken another turn.
Now Leana Lockley, the pregnant woman whom Jdimytai Damour died saving, is telling her tale:
"There were so many people on top of me it just went silent," Lockley said. "I started hearing my teeth grinding in my mouth and my body being crushed. I really thought I lost my baby." read more »

The Articles They Don't Want You to See
The following has made it onto the Recommended List on Daily Kos. Wasn't expecting that! I may have to do this regularly! If it is interesting to dKos people, maybe I should post it here as well.
Being a New Yorker, I have realized that many people don't know what Rudy Giuliani is really like. It is amazing how few people realize what a dick he is and how our first responders DETEST him. So I wanted to find some articles (including my own...) that highlight how he really is.
Which then made me realize that I already have some articles on some other Republicans that should get more attention. So, here is what might be a regular thing I do: highlighting the articles that Republicans DON'T want you to see. Please feel free to add more in the comments. I may pick up on some of them for my own blogging. And feel free to spread the word on these articles.
Rudy Giuliani:
So few people realize what a self-centered control freak this guy is and how much he is despised by the REAL heroes of 9/11. So here are a few articles that highlight the side of Rudy he doesn't want you to know: read more »

Eliot Spitzer, Kossack
Governor Spitzer officially became a Kossack today, with his first posting on Daily Kos and The Albany Project.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the netroots community on a successful weekend in Chicago. The continued success of Yearly Kos is a testament to the power of the ideas you support.
The vitality and quality of the debate on sites like this one proves that there is a powerful movement growing to fundamentally change government. You’ve demonstrated that on-line activism and discussion can advance our national dialogue in significant and meaningful ways.
Welcome to the blogosphere, Sir. We look forward to welcoming you here as well.
Slaughter on Daily Kos
Representative Louise Slaughter (NY-28) decided that today would be a good day to post a diary on Daily Kos. The title was A Difficult Day for All of Us, and it attempted to explain just how the House Democrats had arrived at their capitulation on George Bush's Iraq Appropriations Bill.
Go check it out for yourself, but here's a rough indication of the reception given to the Congresswoman, otherwise a netroots darling:
