Paterson fires Ethics Commission
Unshocking news from the New York Times:
Gov. David A. Paterson called on every member of the state’s public integrity commission to resign on Wednesday in the wake of a damaging report about the commission’s handling of an investigation into his predecessor, Eliot Spitzer.
The report, issued earlier today by the state inspector-general, found that the commission’s executive director, Herbert Teitelbaum, repeatedly leaked to a Spitzer aide details of the commission’s investigation into the Spitzer administration’s handling of the travel records of the longtime State Senate majority leader, Joseph L. Bruno.
The inspector general, Joseph Fisch, also found that the commission’s thirteen members did not take action against Mr. Teitelbaum even after an attorney for the commission warned them that Mr. Teitelbaum had acted improperly.
One set of rules for you and me, one for people with power. And that's the problem in this state right there.
