William Donohue: "What's wrong with a gook joke?"
Via Crooks & Liars. Not only is William Donohue, president of the extremist Catholic League, an anti-Semite, he is also apparently a racist:
DONOHUE: Look, just hold on here. You had your time. Look, the kid's a phony and here's why. I dealt with him earlier today on an MSNBC show, and I said we could hypothesize that there'd be a Columbia University ping-pong team made of Asians, and somebody goes out there and says "All gooks go home." So I — I asked him about my gook joke. And guess what? Andy's — Andy's sense of humor just collapsed. He found that offensive. You see what you are? You're a phony. You're a typical Ivy League little brat who thinks it's OK to dump on Catholics, but you don't like my gook joke. Now, what's wrong with a gook joke?DONOHUE: Yes, like the gook joke!
(CROSSTALK)
DONAHUE: … "like an altar boy."
DONOHUE: What about the gook jokes? I want to know, why don't you have a sense of humor about gook jokes?
Should extremist hatemongers like this be tolerated in the mainstream media?

Who is the Catholic League?
At first I started to question whether there was an actual organization or if it's just William Donohue. He's been president of the CL for a while, and I never hear about any other member. I remember when he and Rudy Giuliani were in cahoots during the Brooklyn Museum/Chris Ofili controversy in the late 1990s.
But before I posted this I decided to do some research before I came off looking stupid. Well, look who's on the board of advisors of the Catholic League: L. Brent Bozell III, Dinesh D'Souza, Alan Keyes, Kate O'Beirne, Michael Novak, Bill Simon, Linda Chavez. (Check Wikipedia for full list.) Not a very bipartisan group, is it?
Donohue's biggest ally in NY Media: Errol Louis
Donohue's best parrot in New York City is Errol Louis. He has taken up the Donohue's talking points by going to this story again and again. Why should this issue be considered important? Errol's answer: It gets clicks, which I guess is good for advertising sales. Here links to Errols coverage of this pressing issue:

Of course, if you want more information on the Edwards blogger affair, go to Fox News. They also think it's quite important.

A disgusting human being
How the cable news networks allow him to be on national television is amazing.
