Winning the State Senate: Fundraiser for Jimmy Dahroug
Winning the State Senate is a high priority around NY State. We have a chance to send some really great people to Albany to, we hope, shake things up there. One of our top picks for State Senate is Jimmy Dahroug, running for State Senate in SD-3, Suffolk County. And Jimmy has already turned in some impressive fundraising numbers, making this a top tier pick up chance. Democracy for NYC and Jim Dean (Howard Dean's brother and current head of Democracy for America) is having a fundraiser for Jimmy on Tuesday, Nov. 27th here in NYC. Hope you all can join in. And if you can't, then join me in making a donation.
This comes from Democracy for NYC:
A former “Dean Dozen†candidate (2004 and 2006), endorsed by Democracy for NYC, this dynamic and intelligent young man is about to blaze a bold new trail in the tired old politics of Long Island - specifically, Suffolk County, District 3. A district now held by special-interest “king of pork†Republican Caesar Trunzo, 35-year NYS Senate seat-holder.
The time has come for a new, progressive State Senate. Help Jimmy Take it Back.
Jimmy stands for progressive values and fiscal responsibility, intends to end regressive property taxes at home, and is advocating a single payer healthcare system for New York.
I would be very happy if you would join me and Event Chair Lewis Cohen for a lively cocktail reception on Tuesday, November 27th, at the home of Morris and Barbara Pearl, to help Jimmy Dahroug take back this important New York State Senate seat.
Jim Dean, Chairman of Democracy for America, will be our Special Guest Speaker, joined by a host of progressive democratic luminaries – perhaps even a celebrity or two!
When: Tuesday evening, November 27, from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: The home of Morris and Barbara Pearl, 1020 Park Ave., at the corner of 85th St.

Taking back the State senate
We can take back the State senate. Jimmy & Albert Baldeo (who almost beat Maltese last year), are 2 democrats who can do it. I don't think Joe Addabbo should act as spoiler with the Dem vote in the primary. Maltese's republicans have researched him already, and they will attack his record:

Taking back the State senate
Wishful thinking. A deal to keep the seat Mafioso has already been struck with Addabbo & Maltese.

Supporting Jimmy
In addition to shaking things up in Suffolk County and making this seat one which we should win next year, Jimmy has been instrumental in getting Democrats elected to local seats as well. This year, for instance, the Town of Islip turned from red to blue, and Jimmy's efforts went a long way toward making that happen.
Jimmy would already be in the state Senate if the state party hadn't run someone else against him in 2006. Unfortunately, Jimmy had to spend a lot of money to win the primary, and consequently got "only" 44.4% in the general election. This time, he may have a clear shot at Trunzo, but fundraising is the key. We need a good turnout on Tuesday to give Jimmy the clear shot he needs so that we can finally knock absentee Senator Caesar Trunzo out and send him down to Florida -- where he spends most of his time anyway.
See you there,
Dan
