Voter Registration Trip to Pennsylvania, This Saturday, August 9th

Another voter registration trip to Pennsylvania organized by a fellow IND member. Hope lots of people can help out!

Recent polling shows this race is neck and neck, and we have a scant 8 weeks to expand the electorate in key states through voter registration.

This Saturday, August 9th, we are traveling to Bethlehem, PA to register voters attending the 25th annual Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA. Bethlehem lies at the heart of the Lehigh Valley, a critical area that will spell victory or defeat in this must win swing state.

We will depart from Port Authority Bus Terminal (South Terminal, 8th Ave. btwn 40th & 41st St.), Saturday, August 9th, 8:00 am, aboard Trans-Bridge Bus Lines. The bus to South Bethlehem should depart from Gate 4 or 6. Please arrive early to purchase your ticket on the South Terminal main floor and make your way downstairs to the gate. Bus tickets are $39.45 round trip. Buses return at 5:35 pm and 7:40 pm, arriving back in New York at 8:00 pm and 10:05 pm, respectively.

A note on bus tickets: Please purchase roundtrip tickets to SOUTH Bethlehem (as distinct from Bethlehem LVIP.) The bus terminal in South Bethlehem closes early on Saturday and you may find yourself paying a premium to buy your return ticket from the driver, in addition to being required to have exact change.

Thank you to everyone for your time and commitment. Please RSVP to this e-mail address: nyvolunteers_at_gmail.com so I can provide a headcount to our Lehigh Valley hosts.

Rat-a-tat-tat the Republican are at it again

John McCain has received two million dollars from the oil industry, and now he want to give them a four Billion dollars tax break, when they are raking- in record profits on the shoulders of America. So, John McCain said, “Our dangerous dependence on foreign oil has been thirty years in the making, and was caused by the failure of politicians in Washington to think long-term about the future of the country.” What John McCain neglected to mention was that during those thirty years, he was in Washington for twenty-six of them. And in all that time, he did little to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Not to mention, that out of the last twenty eight years, twenty of those years, our nation energy policies were manipulated by an oil man in the Whitehouse representing his party interest (George Sr.12 years. George Jr.8 years) that have all but destroyed our Country.

Here is some straight talk. When John McCain was running in the Republican primary he never mention or addressed anything about this nation energy problems. After the primary, he saw that Barack Obama energy position along with his other ideas was getting footage so he flip-flopped, and quickly turned into Mitt Romney. The Straight Talk express at its best. Although Jack Cafferty is one of my favorite reporters in the media today, they are wrong! So here my question to you: Why do Jack Cafferty and others in the news media find it so amusing to report on Barack Obama supposedly flip-flopping and gaffes, when John McCain have twisted on more issues to have started a tornado with his silly shenanigans, then any Politician in recent history beside Mitt Romney, not to mention his long list of gaffes. Yet, they fail to give equal negative coverage. Can I be sensing media bias? After all, Barack Obama has received 72% negative coverage, when they have reported on him. WHY?
America has to stop acting like they don't know the difference between right and wrong. Thus, John McCain campaign is represented by lies instead of real ideas!

Finally, there are those who say that John McCain’s new ad depicts Barack Obama as trying to present himself as a messiah, well I beg to differ. I believe that John McCain new ad tries to depict Barack Obama as being as old as Moses, when John McCain himself is old enough to have been Moses childhood buddy!

Rat A Tat Tat

Twelve dollars for the Brattleboro Rat, responds the clerk, and a thousand dollars more for the history behind it. You can keep the history,” replies the resident, "but I do want to purchase the rat. With the sales transaction completed, the resident leaves the store with the bronze Brattleboro Rat under his arm. As he crosses the street two rats emerge from a storm drain and fall into step behind him. Nervously looking over his shoulder, the resident begins to walk faster, but every time he passes another storm water drain more rats come out and follow him.

Poll

Only in New York

Just as dispiriting, party regulars chose as the convicted Norman's successor Assemblyman Vito Lopez, an old-time ward heeler from Bushwick who has never shown a zeal for reform until, gee whiz, now. He vows the party will consult a panel of learned men and women, such as Brooklyn Law School's dean, about picking quality judges.

We've seen this movie before, and the ending stinks. Two years ago, Norman and party district leaders, Lopez included, pledged they would never support a candidate for a judgeship who had not been approved by an independent screening commission. This year, for the first time, the panel reviewed Civil Court candidates.

And guess what? The party shoehorned two lawyers onto the bench without any screening. Kenny Sherman, son of district leader Roberta Sherman, will get a 10-year Civil Court term without so much as a primary. And Canarsie Assemblyman Frank Seddio was awarded an uncontested ballot line for Surrogate's Court. So much for quality control. So much for keeping your word.
