So many events, so little clean underwear

I know, this title kinda-sorta diminishes the impact of the previous breaking news story, but honestly, I couldn't help myself. Monday is kinda-sorta laundry day here at TDGhq and I am running really low on freshly laundered loin clothes.

Anyhooo. Here are some of the events that are happening today:

NDM's monthly meeting

Michael may scratch my eyes out if I don't show my face to this one. Maybe I'll make it, maybe I won't.

1. NDM July General Meeting: Democratic winners on Staten Island

July's General Meeting will take place on Monday, July 10th, 8 to 10 PM, at the Gay and Lesbian Center, 208 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011.
http://www.newdemmajority.org/cms/?q=node/view/10181

We are pleased to announce as speakers Steve Harrison, running against Vito Fossella in the hotly contested 13th Congressional district, and Janele Hyer-Spencer, candidate for Assembly in Staten Island's 60th Assembly district. Both Steve and Janele are generating tons of buzz and excitement on the island and further afield. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet Democrats fighting on traditionally republican turf.

Steve and Janele will be presenting their campaigns and laying out a roadmap to victory for Democrats on Staten Island. We are very excited to present these fresh and hard-charging candidates and open up a new battlefront against the republican culture of corruption and stagnation.

45 minutes before the General Meeting, interested members can meet in the lobby to discuss the book of the month. This month, we'll be talking about George Lakoff's classic "Don't think of an Elephant".

Brian Keeler (DailyKos' NYBri) is having a "Blograiser"

Another one of those,"I emailed you a thousand times and you still didn't come". Sigh. Of course, like anything else in effing New York, it's scheduled against NDM.

Honestly, if all these organizations and candidates started seriously using our calendar, these scheduling conflicts would not exist at all.

Dudes! Get an account!

EVENT: Fundraiser for Brian Keeler, Democratic Candidate for
NY's 41st Senate District

BLOGRAISER: In addition, we will have liveblogging and a
contribution page to receive contributions concurrent with this
event for those who cannot make it to NYC. This will allow for a
maximum event total for maximum media impact.

DATE: Monday, July 10th

TIME: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

LOCATION: Prey NYC - 4 West 22nd Street

RSVP: None required. Just show up - and bring your friends!

CONTRIBUTIONS: Will be taken at the door. The amount is up
to you, but I ask that you give till it feels good... REAL good:)
And remember, this election is no cakewalk -- as NYBri faces
stiff competition against an incumbent Republican. These battles
cost money to run effectively and that is where we can make
the difference in this race!

CONTACT: Tom Ball ( redtornado@rcn.com) if you have any
questions.

COST: No cover!

COMMENTS: There is a ZERO cover charge, so the maximum
amount of dollars can see its way into the Keeler2006
campaign. We were able to attain an exclusive venue for free
from the good folks at Prey NYC, even as other establishments
were charging or requiring a 'bar guarantee' totaling thousands
of dollars. For that, we ask that you show them our appreciation
by simply buying some food or drink during the course of the
event. Drink specials, appetizers, and other food will be
available on a cash basis.

Blogging Liberally?!!??!

It is sometime today in the early evening at some location far away from these two other events so it will make your life impossible trying to hop from one place to the other.

Honestly people,

GET AN ACCOUNT AND POST THE EVENTS ON OUR CALENDAR!

Hmmmm

are you copying and pasting from a Scoop blog?

If you are, that's the problem. For some odd reason Scoop spews HTML code into the forms of published posts. If you try to cut and paste from those, then the pages here are going to look wonky.

Same also if you are copying and pasting from a Word document. Best thing to do is to use a text editor like TextEdit (you have the same PowerBook I have, right?). I also have found xPad to be quite decent.

If you want to use your blog here at TDG to write draft articles for later posting, here's the trick: Make sure you deselect the "Publish" box and "Promote to Front Page" boxes. The system will save a draft of your article. The only thing to remember when you are ready to publish is to make sure you change the date and time to the current one.

Hey!

I couldn't even go to my own events, because I was at the Madonna concert in Boston. Thirty feet from the stage. Ha!

I would leave no troops in Iraq whatsoever...The difference between me and the other candidates is, they would leave troops there indefinitely, and I would not.
