I've been invited to Real Politics Live with Richard French
This should be muy, muy fun.
The man who slapped down Sue Kelly for not wanting to debate John Hall has requested our presence in his show. Yes people : Richard French of RNN's Real Live Politics wants to have me and other notables share their insight about 2006's highs (and lows) in New York politics and what we forsee for the new year.
I have a good idea where to start. I will be pulling out links to our most excellent stash of posts for 2006 --and boy do we have embarrasment of riches in our archives.
At random I can think of my calling first Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency after she hired Peter Daou. We also called here Havesi's win and eventual resgination. How about our stellar coverage of CD-11?
I still want to hear from you. What do you think are the highs and lows of politics in New York state? And what do you see in your crystal ball?
Oh and by the way, if you want to enjoy French at his snarkiest, we've got it after the jump.

A couple of my favorite phrases
I like some of the terms we threw out there.
My favorite for sheer neo-Bohemian charm is Bouldin's "Hillary Bottery."
I also like my own reference to CD-11 as being a place where the Democrats could run a sponge cake and still win against any Republican which was picked up by the Republican candidate, Steve Finger, when he referred to himself as the "non-spongecake" candidate. We also beat NY-1 in that we at least KNEW there was a Republican running, something they never recognized.
I also like our covering Bill Batson's reference to the "Disneyfication of NYC by Arson." I got LOTS of shit for that piece and its follow up, but funny how the homeless guy turned out to have an alibi and how later New York magazine covered lots of the same ground I did.
I will also note that even as I still in the back of my mind assumed David Yassky would win, Bouldin wrote a piece saying Yassky COULD NOT and WOULD NOT win. Bouldin called that one quite well.
My own "Wonk and the Preacher" got attention not so much from the general readership, but was read by all involved parties and praised as a fair analysis of Yassky vs. Owens.
Bouldin also did some excellent coverage of races outside NYC like the photo of Republican Sleaze Congressman drunk with frat boys.
Curious: what stories got the most hits? Top 20 or so? I mostly write what inspires me, but I also like to know what readers are most interested in.
