I grieve, therefore I work

Thanks to everyone who've expressed their condolences. It's been a trying week since the day my niece died. You can read more about it at The Tao of Motherhood.

I've kept busy so as not to go mad with grief. The past week I've done quite a bit of web design and development work.

A slightly new template for the site is coming with 4 new designs. With it, I've created design shortcuts for easy styling of text and images. You won't need to know any CSS to be able to align elements on a page or make them look pretty.

The redesign has another practivel purpose : It makes space for advertising I will be selling directly. Details to come next week.

Why? I'm going to BlogHer. I'm leaving today in a few hours and won't be back until Sunday. I will be checking in on y'all every day, though.

To those of you who've discovered the forums, Congratulations! If you have not discovered the forums, now is the time for you to do so. Wanna talk about the Atlantic Yards or Tom Suozzi til kingdom comes? Knock yourselves out.

Go give the forums a whirl. If there is a category that you feel should be added, just drop me a note at the forum called Your wishlists. It's under "site administration".

Post to the ARGH! forum in that section if you've been having troubles posting. If all the forums disappear, leave a comment in this post.

BTW : We're going web 2.0. I will be explaining in detail next week how promoting members' forum posts and diaries to the front page is going to work.

Which reminds me. To those of you've who've expressed interest in becoming contributors, please leave me a message through the "email this author" link at the bottom of this post. Also, just to put it out there, I am looking for interns for editorial work and event coordination. I will be posting the internship offers in the forums.

I think that's it for now.

I've been trying to find

I've been trying to find your e-mail address to tell you how sorry I am.

I've been cleaving closer to my little redhead since I heard.

I wish you peace.

Progressive Districts

Only in New York

You don't need a poll to know that the vast majority of Americans--Republican, Democrat, and Independent--are weary of the dead zone that politics has become, in which narrow interests vie for advantage and ideological minorities seek to impose their own versions of absolute truth...Perhaps more than any other time in our recent history, we need a new kind of politics, one that can excavate and build upon those shared understandings that pull us together as Americas.

— Senator Barack Obama
