Best opinion ever about the Stuyvesant Town deal
Jack Lester, counsel to the Stuyvesant Town Tenants Association.
Honestly, I think his opinion on the matter is one of the most dispassionately rational I have heard to date.
Housing | Real Estate | Manhattan | Stuyvesant Town - Peter Cooper Village

On housing, Jack Lester is great....
He also ran against Dan Garodnick for Council last year. If background and accomplishment meant anything, Jack Lester should have won, but he ran a sloppy, undefinanced campaign, assuming his good housing works spoke volumes for him. They did, but good works tend to whisper until you amp them up. Meanwhile Dan Garodnick proved to be a terrific and attractive campaigner with a sizable warchest, early endorsements and a slick, credible above-board operation. To a lot of voters, the choices in candidates seemed win-win. And some people even said they voted for Garodnick because they didn't want to lose Lester as the Stuy Town tenants lawyer. So much for promotional opportunities for doing a good job.
