The Drum Major Institute has done something wonderful

The DMI published today a wonderful analysis of the voting records of the members of the New York State Assembly and Senate on key items of legislation over the last few years. Legislators get letter grades from A to F depending on their voting records Its an excellent resource and worth a detour all by itself. The url for the report is:

But DMI has also done something I've never seen before which makes it worth a special trip. DMI has bought advertising space on Google. If you go to google to seach for "Joe Bruno," the DMI ad pops up with his grade (a "D") and a hot link to the report. It seems as though some guys are not listed -- for example when I googled my state Senator, Efrain Gonzalez, Jr. the DMI ad didn't pop up.

Over the next few days, I hope, they'll get the kinks ironed out. In the meantime its an excellent report, a great advedrtising idea, and DMI deserves congratulations all around.

we do grade every member

Efrain is on the scorecard. Not sure why he didnt come up for you but he comes up for us. We graded every member of the legislature (well not the one who just got elected last month but you get the idea). We did not give a grade to people that missed 5 or more votes though as a grade wouldn't really reflect their positions.

Thanks for the great post though and the great comments.
