McBush strikes again
Remember in 2004 when John Hall had to tell the Bush campaign team not to use his song "Still the One" (Billboard article available here)? McCain is now on notice as well. Yup, he used the song at a "town hall" on the campaign trail.
According to MSNBC, Hall stated, "This is yet another example of John McCain not learning anything from George Bush's mistakes. First, McCain adopted Bush's failed policy of an open-ended war in Iraq, then he wrapped his arms around the failed Bush economic policies that have put the squeeze on middle class families. Now, he's making the same mistake George Bush made illegally using a copyrighted song without asking either the writers or the performers for permission."
It seems the "third Bush term" line is getting more accurate every day.
George W. Bush | John Hall | John McCain | Third Bush term
Not only Hall
You'd think someone on the McCain campaign would've picked up on the fact that Hall is now a Democratic member of the House? And a progressive one at that?
They can't all be this stupid. I'm getting suspicious, they're really making this too easy.
And this is not their only problem on the music front. You may have noticed that McCain often takes the stage to the tune of "Johnny B. Goode". Well, don't expect that to be happening much anymore, either, because Chuck Berry's voting for Obama. And when it comes to unauthorized (and unpaid) use of his music, Chuck does not mess around.

There's always Ted Nugent...
It can't be easy picking the music for a Republican rally. Unless you play country or bluegrass, it's hard to find an artist who doesn't mind having his music used by a Republican for campaign purposes.
Maybe he could enter the room to "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent. I'm sure Ted won't mind.
