Triangulation

You see, America, this is what you have to look forward to: Hillary Clinton, outspoken leader for what is good, right, and Progressive.

The Washington Post:

Clinton was similarly vague about how she would handle special interrogation methods used by the CIA. She said that while she does not condone torture, so much has been kept secret that she would not know unlesselected what other extreme measures interrogators are using, and therefore could not say whether she would change or continue existing policies.

"It is not clear yet exactly what this administration is or isn't doing. We're getting all kinds of mixed messages," Clinton said. "I don't think we'll know the truth until we have a new president. I think [until] you can get in there and actually bore into what's been going on, you're not going to know."

Someone with integrity and principles, not to mention a fucking spine, might have said something as simple as "If I am elected, America will not torture".

Of course, Hillary Clinton is not that someone. Feckless.

By the measure you propose,

we already have a president who says things like that. He says: We don't "torture" with all the false forthrightness one could want of the decider.

The problem, as I see it, is not to get a president who will say things like that (since we've got one), the problem is putting to place a government that won't actually torture people.

I don't know

I think torture is probably one of the issues on which Hillary has been refreshingly clear on her stance. Talking Points Memo just put up the full transcript of that interview, and surprise surprise, WaPo left out some relevant quotes:

It's getting late for HillaryHate, Michael

Since you did not update your post, I suppose you did not see the MILES of blogs hastily noting that release of the full transcript of HRC's interview showed that the WaPo reporters selected only those quotes that advanced their viewpoint of Hillary the vague, Hillary the dissembler. IN CONTEXT, her remarks were very sensible. Or did you see it, but nothing can change the opinion of one with such an advanced case of HillaryHate?

Dude...

since you're blogging on the City dime per your IP address, I suggest you get back to work. Shilling for a candidate on government time is a firing offense, last I checked.

Have a nice day.
