Schumer: "I'm outraged"
The DSCC is sending out an email from Chuck Schumer expressing outrage over George Bush's latest abuse of power, the pardon of convicted perjurer and Bush-loyalist-with-stories-to-tell Scooter Libby.
I’m outraged. President [sic] Bush commuted Scooter Libby’s prison sentence wiping away two and half years of jail time with the stroke of a pen. President [sic] Bush ignored Libby’s felony conviction for lying to investigators, ignored the jury’s guilty verdict, and ignored the rule of law that governs our nation.
We expect more from our President [sic]. We expect honor and integrity, we expect moral leadership. We expect our President [sic] and his staff to be held to a higher standard.
Tell President [sic] Bush that you are appalled by his actions. Sign our petition today letting President [sic] Bush know that this outrageous conduct won’t be tolerated by the American people.
Sincerely,
Chuck Schumer
Indeed, sign the petition. And then get on the phone to your Member to demand the House begin impeachment proceedings. Enough is enough.

Heh.
It's 2007, and the wingnuts are still obsessing about Bill Clinton - who BTW never committed perjury. Just in case you forgot.
The comparison with Clinton's pardons, not that any Progressives are too happy about them, fails for one simple reason: none of the pardons Clinton issued went to someone in a position to testify against him or his administration. That George Bush issued "a" pardon isn't the scandal; it's who and when and how it was received. Everyone understands that he's just trying to keep Scooter quiet by preventing a situation where he tries to become state's witness.
Are you trying to make the point that laws don't apply to republicans? If so, you succeeded.
More Bush Surprises To Come?
It appears that Mr. Bush has plans in hand to do more for his criminal servant. When asked whether he had plans to pardon Libby (in addition to commuting all the prision-time off his sentance), Mr. Bush said "As to the future I rule nothing in and nothing out."
His punishment
Have any of you guys been to www.scooterlibby.com? His defense fund has gotten a bunch of big shots to pay for his defense fund, and, I would imagine that since that's all basically unregulated money, he can use the 5 million or so that they've raised to pay that mere $250,000 fine. So no, it's not a lot of money, nor is Scooter Libby "most folks."
In the end, he'll get it all back when Bush pardons him a year from now.

Sorry, Sen. Schumer, but I
Sorry, Sen. Schumer, but I believe that Mr. Libby is still considered 'guilty'. The jury's verdict still stands. He is still responsible for the $250,000 fine. That's a lot of money, at least to most folks. He still has a felony conviction on his record.
Were you this outraged when Pres. Clinton lied under oath, caused others under control to do so or when he issued approx. 400 pardons on his last day in office?
