When the republicans do something that we don't like, our response should be to mock them with unfunny fake mailers. Why be a party of class and dignity? Why hold ourselves to a higher standard?
The Homeland Security "mailer" doesn't look like any other of the O'Connell lit I have seen, nor do I know anyone who has received it at their house. It looks totally fake, and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was a netroots hoax.

...which is, I suppose, one reason why they're popping up all over the state. In sum, I'm quite pleased with the response.
As far as a 'netroots hoax' is concerned, this story first broke on Capitol Confidential, in a post by Liz Benjamin, who is many estimable things, but not a member of the netroots. She's a journalist, and frankly a damn good one.
Also, if this had been a netroots initiative, the mailer would have looked better. We know what we're doing, Wingnut Maureen's design staff does not.

It sure beats lying to get America into a war. It sure beats violating the Constitution. It sure beats the massive Republican corruption going on now (how many top Republicans are in jail now? How long before Tom DeLay joins Randy Cunningham and Bob Ney?).
How the HELL do you dare to pretend the moral high ground given the crap that Republicans have been dishing out for years. If you had started by condemning the official O'Connell campaing Karl-Rove inspired Osama bullshit...and the official Vito Fosella campaign Osama bullshit, for that matter... THEN you'd have some moral high ground to attack these unofficial jokes. But as it is, you just sound like a shirll, impotent bully who is finally being stood up to.

Given that I am a DEMOCRAT and have never said once I was a Republican nor a Maureen O'Connell supporter, I merely pointed out that I thought these fake mailers were stupid and childish, I don't understand why I am being attacked. I was Democrats to have the moral high ground. I want us to be a party of dignity that holds itself to more than the idiotic ridiculousness of the Republican party. Nice to know I am thought of as a bully for essentially saying that we, Democrats, should be better than this. Also, Mole, nice that you think anyone who disagrees with you is automatically a Republican.
As to Bouldin, I am aware of who Liz Benjamin is and where this story originated. My point was merely speculation that someone in the netroots community could have created such a thing and sent it as if it was an actual mailer. All of the CapCon staff is good, but they are not on the ground on Long Island, and may not be able to verify all tips they get. It was just speculation on my part because it looks so different from other pieces of O'Connell lit I have seen around.

You'd find the humor AND take the high moral ground through the humor. C'mon, like saying that she's going to take down Osama is not just unethical but ludicrously unethical. You can't take the high moral ground. You have to laugh it --not at it but laugh the moral ground itself. There is nothing like humor to reveal the truth.

I think this is a great response to O'Connell's mailer. If I was Johnson I'd print'm and mail'm with an very serious and factual discussion of his credentials on the inside.

I would leave no troops in Iraq whatsoever...The difference between me and the other candidates is, they would leave troops there indefinitely, and I would not.
Love the Flyers
Great "flyers."
I think that Churchill is my favorite -- or maybe the Renaissance one. It's so hard to choose!
BTW, did Maureen invent the internets too?
I heard Maureen invented fire
and wiped out the dinosaurs
do you mind if I repost these? with credit, of course
Oh, please do
Oh, please do
Wow...
These are all really petty and juvenile. Way to make Democrats look like jerks, guys!
True...
...somehow the statesman-like feel of Maureen's Osama mailer continues to elude us.
Oh, of course.
