Editorial Policy
Just a brief note on what we publish, how, and why, seems in order.
First of all, we're a part of the Progressive netroots. As the oldest and largest statewide Progressive blog, that's clear. Most of the time, by choice or default, we'll support the netroots position or candidate. In New York especially, with its cynical and deeply corrupt political culture, enmeshed in our state's version of the Washington Beltway, saturated with dysfunction and insider/outsider narratives, the netroots are a breath of fresh air in a very stagnant smoke-filled room filled with jaded, bitter, and old practitioners of the conventional wisdom.
That said, there is no one single editorial line. We are a forum for debate. We are not, contrary to what some might say, shills. Our support, if its to be extended, is conditional. Some of our writers may indeed be rather more critical than you'd expect.
And that's fine. We don't censor our writers. In the entire time this blog has been online, over two years, we haven't deleted a single diary, and would only do so in a case of clear hate speech - racism, anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, that kind of stuff. We've banned three people - one for being an ass, one for discriminating against religious minorities, and one for spamming. That's the way it's going t stay.
That doesn't mean the editorial team agrees with everything posted here, either in diary or in comment form. We respect our writers enough to give them considerable leeway to hang themselves.
The End.

Thanks
for the greatest compliment I've ever had paid to me or my writing. With only six posts under my belt I have prompted the editorial board of the state's largest and oldest blog to specifically enunciate - or re-state as the case may be - its editorial policy regarding critical posts of Democrats in this state. Specifically, it can only be deduced that this policy clarification is in direct response to my post this morning (8/8/07) - "It's Official - "The Governor Doesn't Get It". My apologies for not making this is "link" - I'm still new at this blog game. Nevertheless, I could never have hoped for such quick and statewide influence both on this blog and in Albany. Thank you Daily Gotham for giving my voice so much power.
