Baghdad Vito freaks out

Well, that didn't take long. In the first news cycle after Steve Harrison's announcement for Congress in the Thirteenth District, Vito Fossella's lackeys are playing the cheese-eating surrender monkey card.

Harrison:

“I am running because I believe we have to build a majority of Democrats in Congress to stop this ill-conceived war,” said Harrison. “I absolutely believe the war in Iraq was wrong, and I would prefer to not even use the term war on terror.”

Fossella flack:

"Surrender Steve may be the only person left in America who doesn't believe that we're fighting a war on terrorism," Kay said after she learned of Harrison's comments.

Got that? But it gets better.

"It's taken Harrison less than four seconds to begin his campaign with negative attacks and smears and nothing positive about the future of our community and nation," she added.

Alright then. Translation from the wingnutese: "You're mean, you French-looking surrender monkey".

I'm impressed. It took them quite a bit longer to pull that card in the last campaign. If that's the opening salvo, then Stay The Course Vito's people are probably not all that sanguine about their candidate's chances in what republicans are privately already calling the Armageddon of 2008. Let me just suggest that pretending Iraq has anything to do with the war on terror isn't the best way to stave off the fruits of that meltdown in the Thirteenth. The people in the district aren't as dumb as Vito needs them to be to buy that line.

I Hope

we can fasten Bush's War to Vile Vito and make it stick.
What fraction of the remaining sliver of support for this debacle still believe this bunch of incompetents can somehow achieve anything they can label "victory"?
If Vito is still mouthing Stay the Course, Terra terra terra
slogans when most people focus on the elections he'll have trouble getting anyone to believe any of it.

Exactly.

What you said.

Scared

Vito must be terrified. You don't release a statement like that so early when you're the incumbent, unless you're real nervous.

Pushing a porn site, particularly one that is a bad faith use of an old website, is not acceptable.

Yep, Vito is running scared and also debt because he hasn't paid down his 2006 election debt as yet so they have hissy fits over Steve's announcement. He even has his people working the SI Political Forum knocking Steve.

To add to that, every volunteer that Steve had in 2006 will be on board to volunteer this time also. He also has new volunteers that watched him in 2006 and want to help him for 2008. We know he's the best candidate and we want to help him beat Vito.

Progressive Districts

Only in New York

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, says he won't get into the race this time. "I am not going to run"

Wow, huge surprise....Edwards-Obama 2008 with or without Rev. Al's support.
