Chuck Schumer is God?
[Insert primal scream here.]
The shroud has lifted!
I feel as if, somehow, an alarm has finally gone off and the nation has finally awoken from a deep slumber.
A more apt analogy is the kids made too much noise and now the parents are awake and angry.
Dems have the House.
Dems have the Senate.
Rummy's on the run.
They even put the squash on that crazy abortion law in the Dakotas (for now)!
I've caught myself giggling in delight a couple of times today.
I hope the Dems can turn this bad boy around. The Reps have really left a lot of work to get done.
Damn, I feel good.
Going to be hard...
Of course the media is still Bush's tame little pet and Bush still thinks he is Emperor of the world and will go against anything a Democratic Congress tries, vetoing pretty much everything and having the media spin it his way.
And, of course, the fact that Democrats can never get along with eachother will come into play almost immediately. Look for moves from Murtha that may split the party. And Wiener and Clarke will probably back Murtha over Pelosi.
The fight has just begun.
But yes...it does feel good for the moment. And the potential for change is huge if moderates and progressives continue to fight together rather than tearing eachother apart. Though for us in Brooklyn the MACHINE/Reform/progressive battle will continue unabated, I am sure.
God in his own mind, sure.
God in his own mind, sure.
Whats sweet about it....
Whats sweet about is that George Allen was Bush's not-so-secret choice to succeed him. This is why they had Karl Rove and Mary Matalin out in the Virginia trenches fighting like hell for Allen. He was a former southern governor, a natural NASCAR candidate who wore cowboy boots and spoke in a folksy manner, just like Bush, and has a good looking wife. Had he been re-elected, I believe he would have been the conservative wing of the gop's candidate. Those guys don't like McCain at all and had soured on Frist. George Allen was their guy. But he lost! Now he can't run for president! How sweet it is!
How about a little
God for Dr. Dean, too?
Chuck did very well on fundraising, I will admit, but do you really think he had much to do with the Republicans running around the last week or two of the campaign trying to put out brushfires in places as unlikely as Idaho and Nebraska? That was the 50-state strategy at work.
