Norman Siegel dials 9/11
Norman goes where no other candidate has gonen (in this race):
[via Ad in Public Advocate Race Is Critical of 9/11 Rescue Effort - New York Times]:
Norman Siegel, the civil rights lawyer and candidate for the city's public advocate position, will present a campaign ad on television this evening featuring family members of victims of the World Trade Center attack, his campaign said yesterday.
The ad will be shown five times this week on NY1, the local news cable station, and will include family members who credit Mr. Siegel for helping them expose communications failures and safety issues during the Sept. 11 attack.
In the ad, the family members also express frustration with city officials, characterizing them as indifferent to their concerns.
It is the strongest attack in Mr. Siegel's campaign against the incumbent, Betsy Gotbaum whom he has repeatedly called ineffective. The five-day effort is costing his campaign $8,000.
I'm so weird. The first thing I thought about this piece of news was "Wow! $8K for a TV ad? What kind of rotation is that?". But then again, ads on this blog are much cheaper.
Heh.
On another note : Don't you get the feeling Gotbaum is on the way out? I hate to say this but the most interesting city-wide race in NYC right now is the Public Advocate's race and I feel that race is only between Siegel and Rasiej.
Gotbaum? Not in the picture.
[ OT: WTFITP with Siegel's Blog? Ok. So he doesn't write it. Fine. Anonymous? For a campaign? I don't think so. Anonymous candidate blogging, paid or otherwise, is just not cool. The rules of the game are very different for candidate bloggers. You are better outing yourselves than being outed in the future in a conflict of interest situation. Trust me. It has happened before. ]

I had an Abby Normal moment there
Now it's corrected.
unfortunatly that other lady-- the missing in action one
still has more money than your boy and my boy combined.
Not unlike the outer planets called "Gassy Giants" (ie. Jupiter, Saturn and Uranis) her incumbancy is like a great stagnant gravitational pull.
Insurgent candidates are going to need the meteor-esq support of vollunteers if we are going to pull this out of outerspace.
I'm for Siegel (could you guess?)- if any readers are just sitting there, readin' and want to be a meteor for justice (superhero cape flapping in wind) then contact Siegel win@norman2005.com
