Daily Gothamers, we're off to a great start

What an amazing first week.

I thought that I would be able to manage all the panels and conferences and networking and still launch this here site and do the tweaking and take care of business and what not.

Boy, was I in for a big surprise. Why? Because it did happen. I call on kossaks and netizens from all corners of the web and bit by bit you've come and without hesitation started to post and make this community space happen.

It may be a movie cliché but if you build they will most certainly come. You have come here, you're making it possible. You're making it grow.

So first, off to the thank yous:

I want to first and foremost thanks Markos Moulitzas Zuñiga, founder of DailyKos for creating the mother of all progressive community blogs. If it were not for that blog, we would not have people like mole333, lipris, Jane Knowles, BriNYC, Take Back The City and others to be under the same "blog roof". So thanks kos for the daily.

Second, I want to thank all of those who said "yeah!" at DailyKos when I first hinted at creating this site. The list is long, so I'll just post the links to the original articles :

Daily Kos :: To the mayoral hopefuls from the NYC Democratic Party :
Your shenanigans are hurting New York

Daily Kos :: Daily Gotham : Because New York politics needs to get kossacked

Third, I want to thank CivicSpace for putting out such an amazing community building platform; and to the community of developers, designers and people who have come to my rescue, FOR FREE!, to make this site work more effectively.

Fourth, I want to thank some of the people who've helped put out the word about this project

Ben Smith from The Obsever's The Politicker, who was the first one to report on this work-in-progress.

Susan Mernit, who went ahead and announced it before it actually launched Eye-wink
Another local launch: Daily Gotham goes live in NYC

And last but not least, to my crew at culturekitchen, Lorraine Berry and Jeff Langstraat, without whom my blog is nothing. Their awesome, right out of the park writing gives me the drive to make this site succeed.

So thank y'all for being making this first week fantabulous first week. If I forgot anybody, please do not hesitate to bitch-slap me and I'll correct my omission ... just be gentle Smiling

Anybody else see Daily Kos me

Anybody else see Daily Kos mentioned in this story today?

"The blogosphere is half forensic lab and half tavern," said Michael Cornfield, an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University and the chief author of the study. . .

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/23/technology/23blog.html?th&emc=th

So what do you think of this characterization? (I tend to think we've been focused on the wrong half -- fewer lab explosions and more mellow boozing!)
