Don't Drink the Water, Part II

A week ago, I posted a preliminary piece warning about the possibility of gas drilling throughout the southern tier of New York. This drilling technique, and the chemicals used, has been proven to poison water supplies and damage the health of people, animals and plants (can you say "crop damage"?).

A full report is near completion, and the results are frightening. One teaser: DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis proved last fall that, at that time at least, he had no idea what he was talking about. The guy is supposed to be protecting us, but he is failing miserably in this case.

Below is a chart, showing the extent of the potential drilling area. It extends from the western end of New York, to the Hudson River.

If you live within 50 miles of the area, or if your water comes from anywhere near that area, you could be the next Halliburton victim.
